Ngerang

Ngerang is a small inland settlement in southern Melekeok State, located near the boundary with Airai State. It sits on a ridge overlooking the forested interior, with access to the network of footpaths and unpaved roads that connect Melekeok's communities. Ngerang is one of the quieter and more remote hamlets in the state, with a population of only a few dozen residents.

There are no services for visitors. Ngerang is best suited to independent travellers with an interest in Palau's rural interior who are comfortable exploring without the support of tourist infrastructure.

By Plane

Roman Tmetuchl International Airport (ROR) is 25 km southwest, a 30-minute drive.

By Car / Road

Ngerang is reached via a side road off the Babeldaob ring road near the Melekeok–Airai border. The road is unpaved and rough; a 4WD vehicle is strongly recommended.

Walk the footpaths between houses and garden plots.

• Scenic ridge views — the elevated position offers long views over the forest canopy.

• Rural Palauan landscape — a landscape of subsistence farms, secondary forest, and winding footpaths.

• Nature walking — quiet forest and hillside trails.

• Birdwatching — good habitat for Palau fruit dove, Palau flycatcher, and Micronesian imperial pigeon.

No accommodation. Melekeok guesthouse or Koror.

No shops.
