Ngerusar

Ngerusar is a small coastal settlement in Airai State, located on the southern shore of Babeldaob overlooking Airai Bay. The village is situated just east of Airai's main commercial area, within sight of the Koror–Babeldaob bridge, yet it maintains a distinctly rural character with traditional homes set among coconut palms and breadfruit trees. The calm, mangrove-fringed waters of Ngerusar's shoreline provide good habitat for birdlife and small marine species.

The settlement's proximity to the airport (about 3 km) makes it a convenient base for travellers who want to be close to their departure point while still experiencing a quieter slice of Palauan village life. Most residents work in Koror or at the airport, and the village sees few independent visitors.

Ngerusar is a 5-minute drive from the airport on the Babeldaob ring road heading east toward Melekeok. It is 15 km (20 minutes) from Koror city centre.

The settlement is small and walkable. A car is needed to reach shops and restaurants in Airai or Koror.

• Airai Bay waterfront — the shoreline along Ngerusar offers good views across Airai Bay toward the Koror skyline and the Japan–Palau Friendship Bridge.

• Mangrove channels — small tidal creeks running through the mangroves at the edge of the village.

• Early morning birdwatching — the mangroves around Ngerusar are active with kingfishers, herons, and egrets at dawn.

• Kayaking — launch a kayak from the village shoreline to explore the edges of Airai Bay.

No restaurants. The Penthouse Hotel Restaurant and airport café in Airai are the nearest options (5 minutes by car).

Bottled water is the safest option; available at the airport and Airai shops.

There is no accommodation in Ngerusar itself. Nearby options in Airai include Airai View Hotel (US$50–70) and Penthouse Hotel (US$90–130).
