Wakan Village

Why visit Wakan Village?

Wakan Village is a picturesque mountain settlement perched on a steep terrace in the Hajar Mountains of northern Oman, at an altitude of about 1,800 metres. Known for its stone-built houses clinging to the mountainside, terraced farms, and cool climate, Wakan is a favourite destination for those seeking mountain scenery and traditional Omani village life. It is famous for its pomegranates, roses, and dramatic views over the surrounding canyons.

The climate is significantly cooler than the Batinah coast — summer temperatures rarely exceed 35°C and winter nights can be cold (5–10°C). December to March is the best time for clear skies and lush greenery. The village is small and car-free; visitors park at the entrance and walk.
