Barka
Janūb al Bāţinah, Oman
Why visit Barka?
Barka is a coastal town in the Janub al Batinah region of northern Oman, situated on the Gulf of Oman about 80 km west of Muscat. Historically a fishing and agricultural centre, Barka has grown into a popular weekend getaway for Muscat residents thanks to its beachfront promenade, lively fish market, and historic fort. It is also known for Al Naboodah, a traditional Omani village experience.
The climate is hot and humid in summer (May–September), while the winter months (October–March) are pleasant with cooler sea breezes. The town is laid out along the coast and the main Batinah Expressway.
