Nakhal
Janūb al Bāţinah, Oman
Why visit Nakhal?
Nakhal is a historic town in the Janub al Batinah region of northern Oman, best known for the spectacular Nakhal Fort, which rests dramatically on a rocky outcrop at the foot of the Hajar Mountains. The town is surrounded by lush date palm plantations irrigated by ancient falaj channels and offers a fine blend of history, architecture, and natural beauty.
Nakhal experiences a hot desert climate, with scorching summers from May to September. The ideal visiting period is October to March. The town itself is compact, centred around the fort and the main road running through it.
