Mushin

Lagos, Nigeria

Why visit Mushin?

Mushin is one of Lagos's most densely populated mainland suburbs, a vibrant and chaotic residential and commercial area located between Surulere and Oshodi. Known for its intense street trading, market activity, and as the home of the Mushin Local Government Area, it is a classic example of Lagos's high-density urban fabric where commerce and daily life spill onto every available surface.

How do you get there?

Connected to Lagos Island via the Eko and Carter bridges. BRT buses and danfo minibuses from Oshodi, Yaba, and Surulere pass through Mushin. Uber and Bolt operate on the main roads.

Keke NAPEP tricycles and danfo minibuses are the most practical local transport. The streets are very congested — allow extra time.

What are the things to do?

The Mushin Market is one of Lagos's busiest commercial streets. The Mushin Stade (stadium) hosts local football matches. The Idi-Oro area has traditional medicine and herb markets.

Experience the authentic energy of Lagos street-trading culture. Watch a local football match at Mushin Stade.
