Aramoko-Ekiti

Ekiti, Nigeria

Why visit Aramoko-Ekiti?

Aramoko-Ekiti (commonly Aramoko) is the headquarters of Ekiti West LGA, in western Ekiti State, bordering Ifelodun/Irepodun and Ijero LGAs within Ekiti State and Ila and Oriade LGAs in neighboring Osun State. Like the rest of Ekiti, it traces its origins to Ile-Ife, the traditional cradle of Yoruba civilization; early Ekiti was organized into districts each led by its own Owa or king, and Aramoko's traditional ruler, the Alara of Aramoko, holds one of the region's minor Ekiti kingships. The area is predominantly Yoruba-speaking with Christianity widely practiced, and its economy is agricultural, built on cocoa, plantains, and pepper.
