By Plane

The nearest major airport is Dunedin Airport (DUD), approximately 60 km south.

By Car / Road

Palmerston is on State Highway 1, about a 35-minute drive north of Dunedin. Bus services pass through on the Dunedin–Christchurch route.

The town is walkable. A car is needed for Moeraki.

Moeraki Boulders — 10 km south of Palmerston, on Koekohe Beach. Large spherical boulders embedded in the cliff and scattered on the beach. Formed by natural geological processes.
