Alexandra is a town in Central Otago, located at the confluence of the Clutha and Manuherikia Rivers approximately 60 km south-east of Cromwell. It is the main service centre for the Central Otago fruit-growing region.
Alexandra is known for its hot, dry summers and cold winters — one of the most extreme climates in New Zealand. The surrounding area produces apricots, cherries, peaches, and grapes. The town is also a centre for gold mining history.

The nearest major airports are Queenstown (ZQN), approximately 100 km west, and Dunedin (DUD), approximately 160 km south-east.
By Car / Road
Alexandra is on State Highway 8, about a 1-hour drive from Cromwell and 1.5 hours from Dunedin. Bus services connect Alexandra to larger centres.
The town is walkable. A car is needed for the wider Central Otago area.
