About Tamghas

Tamghas is the district headquarters of Gulmi District, located in the mid-hills of Lumbini Province. It is a small hill town known for its orange production, terraced hillsides, and traditional rural character.

The climate is subtropical hill climate with warm summers, a monsoon (June–September), and mild winters (October–February). The best time to visit is October–March.

How to reach

By Plane

The nearest airport is at Butwal or Pokhara. Taxi from Butwal costs Rs 3000–4000 (2.5 hours).

By Train

No railway.

By Car / Road

Tamghas is 65 km north of Butwal via a winding hill road. Buses from Butwal (Rs 300–500) run daily.

Walkable. The town is spread along a ridge.
