Manang

Gandaki, Nepal

Why visit Manang?

Manang is the district headquarters of Manang District and the main settlement in the upper Marsyangdi Valley at 3,540 m. It is a crucial acclimatisation stop on the Annapurna Circuit trek, where trekkers spend two nights to adjust to the altitude before crossing Thorong La Pass (5,416 m). The village has a distinctive Tibetan Buddhist character with mani walls, chortens, and a large gompa.

The climate is cold and dry. Summers are mild, but nights are cold year-round. Winters (December–February) are severe with deep snow. The best trekking seasons are March–May and September–November.
