Karibib is a historic town in the Erongo Region, almost exactly midway between Windhoek and Swakopmund on the B2 road. It was founded in 1901 as a German colonial railway town on the Swakopmund–Windhoek line, and German-era buildings including the old railway station survive. Karibib is known for its marble — quarried locally since the Karibib Marble Works was established in 1904, and used in buildings including Namibia's Parliament, South Africa's Cape Town parliament buildings, and Frankfurt International Airport.
