About Uis

Uis is a former tin mining town at the foot of the Brandberg, Namibia's highest mountain at 2,573 m. The Brandberg is famed for the "White Lady" rock painting, a prehistoric art site. The town has a remote frontier character and is a base for exploring the Brandberg and Spitzkoppe.

Nearest airport is Walvis Bay (WVB IATA) or Swakopmund.

By Train

By Car / Road

Uis is on the D2359 road, accessible from the C35 and C34 roads. A 4x4 is recommended for the Brandberg area.

The town is small. A 4x4 is needed for mountain exploration.
