Why visit Mese?
Mese is the seat of Mese District and Township, on the border with Thailand's Mae Hong Son Province — the district has an official border trading station and crossing (BP-13). Population was estimated around 11,800 in late 2024, with an economy based on subsistence farming (rice, maize, sesame, groundnuts). The area is very restricted for foreign visitors.
The climate is tropical monsoon, with the best weather from November to February.
