Neno

Neno is a small town in the southern highlands of Malawi, on the road from Blantyre to Mwanza, and the administrative capital of Neno District. The district formed around early-20th-century missionary outposts and was historically part of Mwanza District until it was carved out as its own district in 2003, under Malawi's post-1994 decentralization policy; Neno town was chosen as headquarters for its central location relative to the surrounding rural area. It remains a rural agricultural centre with a market.
