Mwanza

Why visit Mwanza?

Mwanza is a town in southwestern Malawi, about 95 km from Blantyre, on the main road to the Mozambique border post of Zobwe (Zóbuè), roughly 5 km further on the Mozambican side. This is the busiest land crossing between the two countries and the main gateway on the Tete Corridor, the transport artery linking landlocked Malawi and Zambia to the Mozambican port of Beira via Tete, about 118 km beyond the border. The post handles Malawi's highest cargo volumes and revenue among its land borders, and a One-Stop Border Post facility has been under development to streamline processing. Mwanza functions primarily as a transit and customs town for travellers and freight moving between Blantyre and Tete.
