About Sambava
Sambava is a town on the north-east coast of Madagascar, situated on the Indian Ocean in Antsiranana Province. It is the capital of the SAVA Region (an acronym for Sambava, Antalaha, Vohemar, Andapa) and a major centre for vanilla production. The town lies on a narrow coastal plain between the Indian Ocean and the Marojejy Massif.
The climate is tropical and humid, with heavy rainfall from December to April. Sambava has a relaxed coastal atmosphere, with a long beach, a busy market, and a prominent position in Madagascar's vanilla trade. It serves as the main gateway to Marojejy National Park.
