Why visit Tash-Komur?

Tash-Komur (Kyrgyz: Таш-Көмүр, meaning "Stone Coal") is a town in Jalal-Abad Region, located on the Naryn River about 60 km southwest of Toktogul. The population is about 15,000. It is a former coal-mining town that developed during the Soviet era, named for the coal deposits in the surrounding mountains.

The town sits in a narrow valley on the main Bishkek–Osh road, just east of the Toktogul Reservoir. The climate is continental: warm summers (25-30°C) and cold winters (-10 to -20°C). Spring and autumn are the best times to visit.

Tash-Komur lies on the main Bishkek–Osh highway. All marshrutkas and shared taxis between the two cities pass through town. From Bishkek about 5 hours, from Osh about 4 hours.
