Makuyu

Murang'a, Kenya

Why visit Makuyu?

Makuyu is a town in southern Murang'a County, on the A2 highway between Thika and Kenol, near the Machakos and Kiambu county borders. It sits in one of Kenya's established pineapple-growing areas — the wider Thika–Makuyu belt was identified for pineapple cultivation in the 1920s, and large-scale growers including Kakuzi and Del Monte Kenya operate plantations and out-grower schemes in the area. Makuyu is also home to Murang'a Teachers College and the Don Bosco Makuyu institution.
