About Longisa

Longisa is a small town in southern Bomet County, lying in the fertile highlands of the Kipsigis region at around 1,850 m elevation. It is best known for the Longisa County Referral Hospital, one of the main healthcare facilities in the southern Rift Valley. The surrounding landscape is typical of the Bomet highlands: rolling green hills covered in maize fields, dairy pastures, and scattered homesteads. Longisa is a quiet agricultural centre with a small market and basic services, offering a glimpse of everyday life in the Kenyan highlands.

Longisa is about 10 km south of Bomet on a paved road. Matatus and boda-bodas run frequently from Bomet town. By private car, take the C12 from Bomet and turn south onto the Longisa road.

Longisa is small enough to walk around. Boda-bodas are available for trips to the surrounding farms and villages.
