Why visit Narynkol?

Narynkol is a village in the Almaty Region at the eastern end of the Kegen Valley, right on the Kyrgyzstan-China border tripoint area. It is one of the highest settlements in Kazakhstan, situated at over 2,000 m elevation. The village is a starting point for expeditions into the remote Tian Shan mountains and the Khan Tengri massif.

By Plane

Almaty International Airport (ALA) is 380 km west. 6-7 hour drive.

By Train

No railway. Road only.

By Car / Road

4x4 recommended for the final approach. Public transport is limited; a marshrutka runs from Kegen.
