Why visit Talgar?

Talgar is a town in Almaty Region at the base of the Tian Shan mountains, 25 km east of Almaty. It is a gateway for mountaineering expeditions to Talgar Peak (4,979 m), one of the highest peaks in the Zailiysky Alatau range. The town has a large apple-growing tradition and a relaxed atmosphere.

By Plane

Almaty International Airport (ALA) is 35 km away. Taxi about 40 minutes.

By Train

Talgar has a railway station on the Almaty-Balkhash route. Limited passenger services.

By Car / Road

Regular marshrutkas from Almaty's Eastern Bus Station. 25 km east on the A-351.

Compact and walkable downtown. Taxis and marshrutkas for outskirts.
