Burma
Jarash, Jordan
Why visit Burma?
Burma is a small town in the Jarash Governorate of northern Jordan, located in the highlands north of Amman. The town serves as a local centre for surrounding agricultural communities and is known for its rural character amid the green hills of northern Jordan. The name "Burma" is of local Arabic origin and should not be confused with the country of Myanmar (formerly Burma).
The town sits at an elevation of approximately 600–800 m in the northern Jordanian highlands, enjoying a Mediterranean climate with cool, rainy winters and warm, dry summers. The surrounding landscape is characterised by rolling hills, olive groves, and terraced farmland typical of the Jarash region.
Burma is a quiet, conservative town without tourist infrastructure. It offers an authentic experience of rural northern Jordanian life and lies within easy reach of Jerash's famous Roman ruins.
