Mastaba is a small village in the Jarash Governorate of northern Jordan, located in the rural highlands surrounding Jerash. The village is part of the agricultural region of northern Jordan, where olive cultivation and livestock farming have been the traditional livelihoods for centuries.

The village sits at an elevation of approximately 600–800 m, enjoying a Mediterranean climate with cool, wet winters and warm, dry summers. The surrounding landscape is characterised by rolling hills, olive groves, and terraced farmland.

Mastaba is a quiet, traditional settlement without tourist infrastructure. Its name may derive from the Arabic word for "bench" or "platform", possibly referring to the flat-roofed architecture typical of the region. The village offers an authentic glimpse into rural life in northern Jordan.

By Plane

The nearest airport is Queen Alia International Airport (AMM) near Amman, approximately 70 km south. Travel via Jerash and then to Mastaba.

By Car / Road

Mastaba is accessible by local roads from Jerash. A private vehicle or local taxi is needed to reach the village, as public transport is limited.

The village is very small and entirely walkable.

What are the things to do?

The village features traditional stone-built rural architecture and offers views of the northern Jordanian countryside with olive groves and agricultural terraces.

Walking in the surrounding olive-covered hills is the main activity. The Mediterranean landscape is pleasant in spring when wildflowers bloom.
