Jesolo
Veneto, Italy
Why visit Jesolo?
Jesolo is one of Italy's most prominent seaside resort towns, situated on the Adriatic coast in the Veneto region, just north of the Venetian Lagoon. The town is divided into two distinct areas: Jesolo Paese, the quiet historic center located about three kilometers inland along the Sile and Piave rivers, and Lido di Jesolo, a bustling fifteen-kilometer stretch of golden sandy beach lined with hundreds of hotels, shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues.
Lido di Jesolo is highly popular with both domestic and international tourists, particularly from Central and Eastern Europe, who come to enjoy its vibrant beach life, clean waters, and extensive tourist amenities. The climate is classic Mediterranean, with warm, sunny summers making June to August the peak travel season. The town comes alive during these months, with the main street, Via Bafile, turning into the longest pedestrian shopping street in Europe every evening. The shoulder seasons of May and September offer a more relaxed experience with cooler temperatures, while winter is very quiet, with many businesses closing for the season.
The Lido di Jesolo Tourist Information Office is located at Piazza Brescia, 13 (phone: +39 0421 370601).

The nearest airport is Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE), located about 35 km southwest of Jesolo. The regional transport company ATVO operates direct bus services from the airport to the Lido di Jesolo bus station (Autostazione), with a travel time of approximately 40 minutes. Treviso Canova Airport (TSF) is located about 45 km away, served mainly by low-cost carriers; travellers can take an ATVO bus from Treviso Airport to Mestre railway station and transfer to a connecting bus to Jesolo (total travel time ~1 hour 10 minutes, one-way ticket €10).
By Train
Jesolo does not have its own train station. The closest railway station is San Donà di Piave-Jesolo, situated on the Venice–Trieste line. From the station, ATVO operates frequent direct buses to the Lido di Jesolo bus station (around 30 daily departures, travel time ~45 minutes). Alternatively, travellers can arrive at the Venezia Mestre railway station, which offers extensive national and international connections, and take a direct ATVO bus to Jesolo.
By Car / Road
If driving from the west (Milan, Padua) or east (Trieste), take the A4 motorway and exit at San Donà di Piave. From the exit, follow the signs for Jesolo along the regional roads (about 25 km). Lido di Jesolo is approximately 45 km from Venice and 110 km from Belluno. Regular regional bus services are operated by ATVO, connecting Lido di Jesolo with Venice (Piazzale Roma), Mestre, and other towns in the Veneto region.
Lido di Jesolo is flat and highly walkable, particularly along the beachfront promenade and the main shopping street. ATVO operates an efficient local bus network. The main routes are Bus No. 3, which runs from the central bus station at Piazza Drago westward to Piazza del Faro (stopping at major squares including Piazza Brescia, Piazza Internazionale, Piazza Marina, and Piazza Nember), and Bus No. 2, which runs eastward from Piazza Drago to Cortellazzo. Local bus tickets cost €1.30 when purchased in advance at ticket offices or authorized tobacco shops, and €2.00 if bought on board.
Bicycles are a highly popular mode of transport, and many hotels provide them to guests. For excursions to Venice, ATVO Bus No. 5 runs from Jesolo to the Punta Sabbioni ferry pier, where visitors can board a public vaporetto (water bus) to Venice (Piazza San Marco) or the islands of Murano, Burano, and Torcello.
