Malcesine is a picturesque medieval town situated on the eastern shore of Lake Garda in the Verona province of Veneto, Italy. Positioned at the foot of Monte Baldo, the town features a dramatic landscape that rises from the lakeside to the mountain peaks. It is famous for its winding cobblestone alleys, historic harbor, and the medieval Scaliger Castle. During the summer, it is a highly popular holiday destination for travelers seeking both relaxation and outdoor adventure.
The town is characterized by its steep layout, transitioning from the water's edge to the high ridges of Monte Baldo. Approximately 4 kilometers south of Malcesine, near the hamlet of Cassone, flows the River Aril. At just 175 meters in length, the Aril is widely considered to be one of the shortest rivers in the world.
