By boat
Ferry pier . There are connections to many of the destinations on the lake, especially at its southern half. ( updated Jul 2016 ) By train The nearest railway station is at Peschiera del Garda .
The historic centre is compact and best explored on foot. Enter through one of the three medieval gates — Porta San Zeno, Porta del Lion, or Porta Cansignorio — and wander the narrow streets down to the old harbour and lakefront promenade.
