Recanati is best reached by car via the A14 motorway (exit at Loreto-Porto Recanati) or by train to Porto Recanati station (5 km away) on the Adriatic railway line, with connecting buses into the hilltop town. The nearest airport is Ancona-Falconara (40 km).

Recanati is a compact hill town best explored on foot. The elongated historic center stretches about 200 metres along a single main street, making walking the easiest way to see the sights. Parking is available at the edges of the old town.

Visit the Casa Leopardi, birthplace of the poet Giacomo Leopardi, and explore the Civic Museum of Villa Colloredo Mels, which houses Lorenzo Lotto's Recanati Polyptych. Walk up to Montefiore Castle for panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. In summer, the town hosts cultural events and concerts in the historic squares.
