Damavand (دماوند) is a historic city at the foot of the Alborz mountains, the main gateway to Mount Damavand (5,671 m), Iran's highest peak and a legendary symbol in Persian mythology. The city has a traditional bazaar, old mosques, and natural hot springs.

75 km east of Tehran via the Haraz Road (Route 77). Buses from Tehran's East Terminal take 1.5 h.
