Pardis

Pardis (پردیس, "paradise") is a purpose-built satellite city about 20 km northeast of Tehran, capital of Pardis County, developed on roughly 2,600 hectares of previously undeveloped land as part of Iran's national "new towns" program launched in 1985 to decongest the capital; siting studies for it began in 1986. Growth has been fast even by new-town standards — from 25,360 residents at the 2006 census to 73,363 by 2016 — with official planning targeting up to 400,000 residents by the early 2030s across many residential construction phases. Unlike Iran's historic towns, Pardis has essentially no pre-modern heritage; its most notable feature for visitors with a professional or academic interest is Pardis Technology Park, described as Iran's first and largest innovation hub, spanning about 145 hectares and hosting several hundred technology companies.
