Tanjung Pandan

Tanjung Pandan is the main town on Belitung Island, known for its stunning white-sand beaches, dramatic granite boulders, and crystal-clear waters. The island gained international fame through the 2005 novel (and 2008 film) "Laskar Pelangi" (Rainbow Troops), which was set on Belitung and became a landmark in Indonesian cinema.

HAS Hanandjoeddin Airport (TJQ) serves flights from Jakarta and Batam. Ferries from Pangkal Pinang (Bangka) also connect to Tanjung Pandan.

The iconic Tanjung Tinggi Beach with its massive granite boulders. Danau Kaolin (Kaolin Lake), a former mining pit whose white surroundings and turquoise water give it a surreal look. Museum Kata Andrea Hirata in Gantong, East Belitung — opened 2012 by the author of "Laskar Pelangi" as a tribute to his hometown and the novel's setting.

Island-hopping to nearby islands, including Lengkuas Island with its 1882 Dutch-built lighthouse (reached by boat, roughly 20–45 minutes depending on departure point — Tanjung Kelayang, Tanjung Binga, or Tanjung Tinggi).
