Seltjarnarnes
Höfuðborgarsvæði, Iceland
Why visit Seltjarnarnes?
Seltjarnarnes is the smallest municipality in the Capital Region, a quiet coastal peninsula west of Reykjavík. It is known for its charming wooden houses, the historic Nesstofa building, and the iconic Grótta island — a tidal island with a lighthouse that is one of the best places in the capital area for birdwatching and Northern Lights viewing. Despite its small size, Seltjarnarnes has a strong community character, with beautiful seaside walking paths and a golf course.
Climate
Same as Reykjavík — subpolar oceanic, cool summers (9–14°C), mild winters (−1–3°C). Coastal location means it can be windier than inland areas.
