La Chapelle is a small mountainous commune in the Artibonite department, located in the highlands northeast of Gonaïves. The town sits at an elevation of approximately 700 m (2,300 ft), surrounded by coffee plantations, pine forests, and subsistence farms. The population is roughly 15,000, and the economy centres on coffee cultivation and small-scale agriculture.
The climate is cooler than the lowland plains, with temperatures averaging 18–25°C (64–77°F). The landscape is rugged and mountainous, with steep hillsides and valleys. La Chapelle is one of the more remote communes in Artibonite, with limited road access and minimal infrastructure.

By Plane
The nearest airport is Toussaint Louverture (PAP) in Port-au-Prince, approximately 170 km south (5–6 hours by road). There is no air service to La Chapelle.
By Train
There is no railway service in Haiti.
By Car / Road
La Chapelle is accessible from Gonaïves via secondary mountain roads heading northeast (approximately 45 km, 2–3 hours). The roads are unpaved and rough; a 4x4 is essential. Moto-taxis can be hired in Gonaïves.
The town is small and walkable. Moto-taxis (25–50 HTG / US$0.20–0.35) connect La Chapelle to surrounding villages.
