Mardigras
Saint George, Grenada
Why visit Mardigras?
Mardigras is a small community in St George parish, Grenada, situated on the hillside above the southwest coast. The name, derived from the French "Mardi Gras" (Fat Tuesday), may reflect the area's French colonial heritage. Mardigras is a quiet residential area with no tourist infrastructure, perched on the volcanic slopes with views over the Caribbean Sea.
The community has a mix of traditional wooden houses and newer concrete construction, connected by narrow steep roads. Tropical fruit trees and spice plants grow throughout the area, reflecting Grenada's agricultural heritage.
