Point Salines

Saint George, Grenada

Why visit Point Salines?

Point Salines is the southernmost tip of Grenada, a peninsula that extends into the Caribbean Sea in St George parish. The area is best known as the location of Maurice Bishop International Airport (GND), Grenada's main airport, which opened in 1984. Point Salines was historically undeveloped marshland and scrub, but the construction of the airport transformed it into a transport hub. The area was also the site of the 1983 US-led invasion of Grenada.

Today, Point Salines is a mix of airport facilities, university buildings (St George's University is nearby), and a growing number of restaurants and guesthouses catering to travellers. The peninsula has several beaches and coastal areas that are less crowded than Grand Anse.
