Corinth

Corinth is a central village in Saint David parish, Grenada, serving as a junction point where roads branch toward the coast and the interior. Its strategic position makes it a natural stopping point when exploring the parish, though the village itself is small and modest. Corinth has a few small shops, a church, and the typical rum shops that anchor village life throughout Grenada.

The village sits on relatively level ground compared to the surrounding hills, at a crossroads between the main east coast road and the roads leading south to the coast and north into the interior. The landscape is agricultural, with nutmeg, cocoa, and banana cultivation in the surrounding area.

Corinth has a tropical climate. The dry season (January–May) is the most comfortable time. The wet season brings heavier rains but the village is accessible year-round.

The nearest airport is Maurice Bishop International Airport (GND) near St George's, approximately 12 km to the west. The drive takes 15–20 minutes.

Corinth is on the main east coast road in Saint David parish. From St George's, the drive is approximately 15 minutes (10 km). From Grenville on the east coast, approximately 25–30 minutes. The main road is paved and in good condition.

Corinth is a small village, walkable in 10 minutes. Minibuses running between St George's and the eastern parishes pass through regularly. Fares to St George's are approximately 2.50–3 XCD (US$1–1.10). Taxis are available at the junction.

• Village crossroads — Corinth's position at a road junction gives it a lively feel by rural standards, with minibuses, farmers' vehicles, and pedestrians converging.

• Small shops and rum shops — The commercial strip along the main road includes general stores and rum shops serving the local community.

• Agricultural surrounds — The surrounding land is cultivated with tropical crops, offering a green, agricultural landscape.

• Church — The village church is the social and architectural centrepiece.

• Village exploration — Walk through Corinth to observe daily Grenadian village life. The rum shops are welcoming to visitors.

• Base for exploring — Corinth's central position makes it a practical base for visiting La Sagesse, the coast, and the interior.

• Birdwatching — The tree cover in and around the village attracts various species.

Dining options are very limited. Rum shops and small cookshops serve simple Grenadian meals — stew chicken, rice and peas, fried fish. A meal costs 10–15 XCD (US$4–6). For more variety, La Sagesse restaurant is 10 minutes away or St George's is 15 minutes.

Rum shops in Corinth serve local rum, Carib beer, and Stag beer. A drink costs 3–5 XCD (US$1–2).

• Budget: Limited or no formal accommodation in Corinth. The nearest guesthouses are near La Sagesse (10 min) or in St George's (15 min), from 150–500 XCD (US$55–185).
• Mid-range: La Sagesse Nature Centre (10 min) offers beachfront rooms for 350–500 XCD (US$130–185).
• Upscale / heritage: Options in St George's and Grand Anse (20 min).

Corinth has a few small shops selling basic provisions — canned goods, drinks, snacks, and household items. These serve the local community rather than tourists. Fresh produce may be available from roadside vendors.

• La Sagesse (5 km south, 10 min) — One of Grenada's most beautiful bays with a nature centre and restaurant.
• St George's (10 km west, 15 min) — The national capital with full tourist infrastructure.
• St David's (5 km east, 8 min) — The parish's main settlement.
