Kharagauli

Kharagauli (Georgian: ხარაგაული) is a small town in the Imereti region, located about 50 km east of Kutaisi. It is the eastern gateway to the Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park, one of the largest protected areas in Georgia. The town is a base for hikers and nature lovers, with access to the park's extensive trail network. Kharagauli itself is a quiet railway town with a market and basic services.

By car

Kharagauli is on the E60 highway, about 1 hour east of Kutaisi and 1.5 hours west of Tbilisi.

By bus

Marshrutkas from Kutaisi and Tbilisi pass through Kharagauli regularly.

By train

Kharagauli railway station is on the Tbilisi–Kutaisi–Batumi line.

The town is walkable. To reach the national park trailheads, a taxi or private vehicle is needed.

The Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park Visitor Centre in Kharagauli provides maps and trail information. The town has a small museum of local history.
