Why visit Pomarkku?

Pomarkku is a small municipality of around 2,000 people on the Pomarkunjoki river in Satakunta. Its church village, built around Pomarkku Church, a historic village street, the river's rapids, and a distinctive stone bridge, is considered one of the best-preserved old rural settlements in Finland. Historically the area was known for its footwear industry. The parish traces back to a preaching house founded in 1802, separated into its own parish in 1899.
