Hawassa

Hawassa is the capital of the Sidama Region and one of Ethiopia's fastest-growing cities. It sits on the shore of Lake Hawassa in the Rift Valley, about 275 km south of Addis Ababa. The city is known for its clean streets, lakeside promenade, vibrant fish market, and as a gateway to the Sidama coffee region.

Hawassa is 275 km south of Addis Ababa on a good paved road (4–5 hours). Buses from Addis Ababa (at Autobus Tera) run frequently.

Bajajs are the main transport. The lakefront is walkable.
