The nearest airport with scheduled flights is at Kombolcha (DSE IATA), approximately 250 km west.

By Car / Road

Gewane is on Highway 1, the main road connecting Logiya to Chifra and the northern Afar region. Buses travelling between Addis Ababa and the northern towns pass through.

The town is small; walking and bajajs cover the main areas.
