Abu Hammad is a town and the administrative center of Abu Hammad Markaz in Sharqia Governorate, about 17 km southeast of the governorate capital Zagazig, in Egypt's Nile Delta. It had a population of roughly 46,000 as of 2023. The town takes its name from Sheikh Ahmed Abu Hammad, who settled there after the Islamic conquest of Egypt; his followers later built a tomb and mosque on the site that still carries his name. Like much of Sharqia, the surrounding area is agricultural.
