Why visit Polis Chrysochous?

Polis Chrysochous (Greek: Πόλις Χρυσοχούς, commonly shortened to Polis) is a small, quiet town situated on the northwest coast of Cyprus, at the center of Chrysochou Bay. Positioned at the edge of the wild Akamas Peninsula nature reserve, Polis is widely regarded as one of the most scenic and tranquil regions of the island, offering a stark contrast to the highly developed tourist resorts of the south.

Historically built on the ruins of the ancient city-kingdom of Marion (later rebuilt as Arsinoe), the town has a rich archaeological heritage. Today, Polis is characterized by its laid-back atmosphere, a pedestrianized town center lined with traditional stone buildings, and its proximity to both the sea and eucalyptus-forested coastal areas. The climate is Mediterranean, featuring warm summers and mild winters, often slightly cooler and greener than the southern parts of the island.
