Why visit Jiguani?

Jiguaní is a small town in northern Granma Province, located on the road between Bayamo and Holguín. The town has a population of approximately 5,000 and sits in a valley surrounded by low hills. Jiguaní has historical significance — it was one of the first towns to join the independence uprising in 1868.

The surrounding landscape is a mix of agricultural land and gentle hills. The town has a modest central square and a few blocks of colonial-era buildings. The Río Cauto, Cuba's longest river, flows nearby.

By Plane

The nearest airport is in Bayamo (BYM), about 30 km south.

By Car / Road

Jiguaní is about 30 km north of Bayamo on the road to Holguín (approximately 35 minutes). From Holguín, the drive is about 80 km south (1.5 hours). Local buses and colectivos pass through on the Bayamo–Holguín route.

Jiguaní is small and walkable. Horse-drawn carriages serve the main streets.
