Cauto Cristo is a small rural town in Granma Province, located along the banks of the Río Cauto, Cuba's longest river. The town has a population of approximately 3,000 and is surrounded by agricultural land, with sugarcane and cattle farming as the main economic activities. The Río Cauto defines the character of the town, providing water for irrigation and a popular swimming spot for locals.
