Conkouati-Douli National Park is a coastal and marine protected area in Kouilou department, approximately 100 km north of Pointe-Noire. The park protects a remarkable diversity of habitats: Atlantic coastline, sandy beaches, coastal lagoons, mangrove swamps, and lowland rainforest. It is one of the most important sea turtle nesting sites in Central Africa and hosts populations of forest elephants, chimpanzees, monkeys, and numerous bird species.

How do you get there?

By Car / Road

The park is accessible via unpaved road from Pointe-Noire (100 km, 2–3 hours by 4WD in the dry season). A 4WD vehicle is essential.

Guided walks and 4WD within the park. A local guide is compulsory.

What are the things to do?

  • Sea turtle nesting beaches — Leatherback, olive ridley, and green turtles nest on the park's beaches, especially November–February.

  • Coastal lagoons — Lagoons behind the beach are rich in waterbirds.
