About Chenzhou

Chenzhou (郴州) is a prefecture-level city in the south of Hunan Province, bordered by Guangdong Province to the south and Jiangxi to the east. Known as the "Southern Gateway of Hunan," Chenzhou is a mountainous region characterised by dramatic limestone karst landscapes, misty rivers, and abundant hot springs. The area has gained fame in recent years for photographs of its ethereal fog-covered landscapes at places like Dongjiang Lake and Gaoyi Ridge.

Chenzhou has a humid subtropical climate with relatively mild winters (January 6°C) and hot, humid summers (July 28°C). The area is known for its frequent mist and fog, which creates the atmospheric landscapes it's famous for. Autumn (September–November) offers the best combination of comfortable temperatures and clear views. Spring brings frequent rain but also the most dramatic mist effects.
