Why visit Kumbo?

Kumbo (also spelled Kimbo) is the capital of Bui Division in Cameroon's North-West Region and the traditional seat of the Nso Fondom, one of the largest kingdoms of the Cameroon Grassfields. Sitting in the Bamenda Highlands at around 2,000 m above sea level, roughly 110 km from Bamenda on the region's Ring Road, it is one of the largest towns in the North-West Region. The Nso people speak Lamnso and trace the founding of their kingdom to a migration from the Tikar homeland near present-day Bankim, traditionally associated with the warrior-princess Ngonnso'. Kumbo is also home to St. Elizabeth Catholic General Hospital in the nearby Shisong neighbourhood, a major regional hospital known in particular for its cardiac centre.
