Rutegama is a small commune in northern Muramvya Province, Burundi, located on the central plateau at approximately 1,800 m elevation. It is the most remote of Muramvya's communes, a quiet rural settlement surrounded by terraced hills and small farms. Rutegama has no tourist infrastructure and is visited only by the most determined off-the-beaten-path travellers.

The climate is temperate year-round. The dry season from June to August is the best time to visit.

By Plane

The nearest airport is Bujumbura International Airport (BJM IATA), about 70 km south-west.

By Car / Road

Rutegama is accessible by unpaved road from Muramvya town (20 km north). Motorcycle taxi costs FBu 3,000–5,000.

Rutegama is a small village, walkable on foot.
