Kiganda

Kiganda is a small rural commune in eastern Muramvya Province, Burundi, located on the central plateau at roughly 1,800 m elevation. It is a quiet agricultural settlement typical of the Burundian highlands, with terraced hillsides planted in coffee, bananas, and beans. Kiganda has essentially no tourist infrastructure and is visited only by travellers seeking an authentic off-the-beaten-path experience.

The climate is temperate year-round due to the altitude. The dry season from June to August is the best time to visit.

The nearest airport is Bujumbura International Airport (BJM IATA), about 55 km south-west.

By Car / Road

Kiganda is accessible by unpaved road from Muramvya town (15 km east). Motorcycle taxi costs FBu 2,000–4,000.

Kiganda is compact and walkable. Motorcycle taxis are available for short trips.
