Vetrino
Varna, Bulgaria
Why visit Vetrino?
Vetrino is a small village of just over 1,000 people, the administrative centre of Vetrino Municipality in the western part of Varna Province, northeastern Bulgaria. It lies inland, roughly 45 km from Varna city and a similar distance from Shumen. Vetrino is not on the Black Sea coast itself — it sits in the rural interior of the province.
The village is twinned with Dubňany (Czech Republic), Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi (Ukraine), and Yeniçiftlik (Turkey). Just east of Vetrino stands Bulgaria's only 750 kV electricity substation, a notable piece of national grid infrastructure.
